Mike McNew is the CEO of McNew & Associates, Inc. (MAI), located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. MAI is a small business that brings the experience of previous Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) Auditors, Accountants, and Contract Management professionals together to offer simple, stress-free, and scalable support for government contractors.
Mike was born in Victorville, CA on George Air Force Base. However, George AFB no longer exists, except as a flight test range. He currently lives in Monument, CO with his wife and two boys. He has lived in many different places since both his parents were Air Force. This even included Japan (which he loved). He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley with an Accounting degree.
Prior to founding MAI in 2007, Mike was a Senior Auditor for the DCAA Colorado Springs Sub-office and Phoenix Honeywell Office. Mike left DCAA having performed 90% of all audits in the DCAA audit program listing for small, medium, and large government contractors.
At MAI, Mike is primarily responsible for the research and analysis of client requirements and objectives in the areas of DCAA audit compliance, government required business system implementation, proposal cost/price development, and financial compliance management. In addition, he provides subject matter expert support related to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) requirements. He has spoken at several small business government contractor conferences across the U.S. as a subject matter expert speaker on DCAA audit matters.
Overall, Mike’s goal has always been to take the ambiguity and stress out of doing business with the government!
